About
Why Penetrating Illusions exists and how its guides are written.
Penetrating Illusions explains the ideas behind identity, belief and the nature of reality: why you live out the picture you hold of yourself, how belief and suggestion shape what you experience, and what the major manifestation teachings claim. The guides draw on a growing library that runs from self-image psychology and hypnosis to mystical and esoteric writers. Each guide explains an idea in plain language, credits the person it came from, and checks the claims against modern research.
The site is written by Brian Groat.
Why there are no step-by-step exercises here
Identity work, visualisation and revisiting old emotional wounds can stir up painful memories. A guide can adjust the work to the person in front of them; a web page can’t. So this site explains the why. The how is taught in private coaching and guided programs.
Editorial standards
- Every idea is explained in our own words and credited to the thinker it came from.
- Where research exists, articles say what it found and how strong the evidence is. Where it doesn’t, they say so.
- Nothing here promises a particular income, relationship or health result. See the disclaimer.
- Articles are reviewed and updated as the library grows.
